Chocolazzo: Your Chocolate and Valentine’s Day Destination

When I was little, my bottle was almost always filled with chocolate milk. From a young age, and still to this day, I’ve never liked the taste of plain milk. This should have been a sign for me and my mom that I was going to be a chocolate lover. <3

Recently, Erick and I discovered the charming Chocollazo and decided to go on a morning date. (You know us and morning dates! They’re our fav!)  I did a little research ahead of time, and on this particular day, Chocolazzo also had crepes made-to-order and local coffee roaster, Quantum Coffee, was there to do tastings. As if chocolate wasn’t enough of a reason to come in, right?!

When we walked under the black canopy and through the doors, we were both quite impressed with the interior. Chic, textured walls in all white were accompanied by pops of black, both of which REALLY made the colorful wall of old-fashioned and hard-to-find candoes  and treats really stand out. Ghost chairs and geometric white stools dotted the space. It was very clean and the owner greeted us with a warm and welcoming smile. In retrospect, Erick and I should’ve picked up on the inviting yet upscale vibe from their tagline – “chocolatier + confectionery.” It reads as a store that is above and beyond your typical sweets stop, and boy is it!

We completed our paper on what we would like on our crepes, and with choices like peanut butter, melted Belgian chocolate,  berries, fresh whipped cream and more, making a decision was harder than it sounds.  (First world problem, am I right?!)  Although they were amazingly tasty, crepes are not the star of Chocolazzo, so back to the theme – CHOCOLATE!

Erick and I ordered a European Drinking Chocolate in milk chocolate because it was rather chilly out and who doesn’t love a good hot chocolate?! Well, let me tell you, GOOD doesn’t even begin to cover how incredible this drink is. It is sweet like the drink you might be used to, but it is also a little salty. It is made in a French press at your table with spices mixed in with the, what I’m assuming is, milk and cream, and serves two. It is rich. It is creamy. It is definitely an indulgence worth trying. And at just $6.99, it is comparable to two hot chocolates at Starbucks… but tastes wayyyy better. (Shhh! Don’t tell Starbucks I said that!)  I’ve had it twice already, and I even took the tiny bit that I couldn’t finish home with me on my second visit. Available in milk, dark, and white chocolate, there is sure to be a flavor that suits your palate perfectly!

Also tickling our tastebuds was the Bean Me Up chocolate bar with freshly roasted Ethiopian coffee beans from Quantum Coffee. The richness of the dark chocolate paired with the crunchiness of the coffee beans was the perfect excuse for me to eat a chocolate bar for breakfast. 🙂 I went back at a later date and bought two more of these bars because there just isn’t anything else in town that is as fresh (the bars were made, hand-painted, and packaged the morning I walked in!!!) or flavorful as what Chocolazzo puts out. Two different bars are shown below, but they have so many different options speckling their wall.  It makes me wish that the entire wall was edible and lickable like in Willy Wonka. The snozberries taste like snozberries! Must…. contain… chocolate cravings!

AND I even learned on their website that they can make CUSTOM CHOCOLATES with your favorite loved one’s favorite booze inside…. Valentine’s Day is around the corner, y’all. This would make for a very thoughtful and memorable gift.

Speaking of gifts, it was Christmas time when I was shopping, and there was the cutest rounder where you could “build your own basket” or stock up on stocking stuffers. Chocolate covered pretzels, the cutest chocolate reindeer, and other tasty treats were available and prices started at just $0.99!! YASSSSS! With so much thought and creativity put into all the tasties at Christmas time, I’m sure you’ll be in for a treat come Valentine’s Day! (Pun definitely intended! 😉 )

Some of the other menu items include a plethora a flavored truffles, sea turtles, fondue, homemade gourmet marshmallows, s’mores, toffee ice cream with all the fixins, and so much more! I cannot WAIT to visit here for what will be my THIRD time, and hopefully eventually try everything they have to offer.

Check it out and let me know what you think! As Chocolazzo says “Chocolate is the answer. Who cares what the question is.” 🙂 <3
